Azrael is the alter ego of Berlin-based artist Felix Gerdts. His connection to psychedelic music began in 2011 at small underground gatherings around Freiburg in Germany’s Black Forest, where he discovered nighttime psychedelic soundscapes and quickly developed a deep passion for the scene.
Driven by the desire to shape musical journeys himself, he soon moved behind the decks, focusing on storytelling through deep and immersive sound selection. In 2014, he performed his first show under the name Azrael, marking the beginning of the project.
Today, Azrael represents Quadrivium Records and Funky Freaks Records as a label DJ and is also part of the Gaggalacka Festival crew. He previously collaborated with Banyan Records for four years.
Over the years, he has performed across Europe and beyond, including Malta, Switzerland, Austria, North Macedonia, Portugal, Albania, the Netherlands, Poland, the Czech Republic, India, Thailand, Spain, Cyprus, Italy, Finland, the UK, France, Norway, Romania, Turkey and Germany.
His sets are known for organic, atmospheric storytelling built on deep grooves and driving rhythms, typically ranging between 147–155 BPM, creating immersive journeys inspired by the spirit of nature.
