Hux Flux, the project of Swedish producer Dennis Rickard Tapper (1974–2018), was one of the defining acts of psychedelic trance. His music combined Goa and psytrance aesthetics with a distinctive mechanical, effects-driven sound that strongly influenced the scene in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Inspired by Sweden’s forest party culture, he founded Hux Flux in 1998 and released the acclaimed debut album Cryptic Crunch, followed by Division by Zero and later Circle Sine Sound. He also collaborated with Henric Fietz and co-founded the ambient and psydub project Illuminus.
Dennis Tapper passed away in 2018 at the age of 43, leaving behind a lasting legacy that continues to shape psychedelic trance worldwide.
