DJ Iris is the scenic name of Iryna Grybacheva, Ukrainian DJ, who has been surrounded by music since childhood. She grew up with a diverse music atmosphere – her father was a music collector, and it formed her early interest for different music directions, rhythms, and sound forms.
A defining moment came with her first meeting with electronic music — she was overwhelmed by the beauty and scale of electronic sound she discovered in the works of Jean-Michel Jarre. From that time electronic music became the foundation of her personal explorations and a door into the world of diverse musical genres, forms, and states.
Today Iris works with two directions: Techno (hypnotic, raw, groovy) and Psy trance / dark psy. She is inspired by the unique ability of hypnotic rhythms to immerse people in a specific state of flow and joyful unity in dance, where the dancefloor becomes a space of common experience.
Psytrance has a special place in her musical journey. Since the first psy parties in Kyiv, this vibe has felt closest to her — and this love continues to this day. It naturally led her to learn DJing and to share her own vision of a psychedelic journey through music and dance — into the depths of the psyche and the experience of inner, transformative state. For this moment the subgenre that resonates with her the most is dark psy/ forest — as a powerful tool for deep inner exploration, working through intense hypnotic rhythms and the dense, vibrational nature of sound. This form of psychedelic expression most accurately aligns with her desire to explore altered states of consciousness and to share them through music and dance.
She plays psytrance under the name gribessa, and techno as Iris.
Iris was playing as a psytrance and techno dj in Polish clubs, took part in psytrance event Egodrop Botanika in 2024 in Krakow, had first festival gig at Carbon Silezia Festival 2023 and Uroczysko Festival 2025 with darkpsy mix on the main stage.
